Why work on a team

Most people have had to work in a group for one project or another but for the most part people like to work on their own. No rules, no working around another person’s schedule, and no risk of being let down. When you have to put your faith in someone else you are giving them the opportunity to not just let someone down but you are also giving them the opportunity to bring you farther then you have before. In the school environment you get a range of different people that you have to work with setting you up to be almost wary of group work. Your grade always seemed like it was in someone else’s hand. The stress was just a normal part of the group environment. Over the past year I have been working with a team at work and also working on different teams for school assignments and what I have discovered is that a good team was far from stressful. When you are working in a group that learns from each other and are there for a purpose then things go so much smoother. You communicate your issues and ideas and you play off of each other’s strengths to reach your goals. When you let someone help make a project better then you are opening the door to ideas that you may not have come up with. Ideas that could build on your own ideas to create something all new. Collaboration is something I would recommend with any artist simply to challenge yourself to try new ideas and to get inspired.
